As almost whole this week I was in China, and of course I took some photos there as well, this week’s photo will be of China’s Great Wall:
Due to my business trip I was not able to post a weekly photo, so there was nothing for week 19. I thought I make up for it this weekend. So here comes the photo that should have been posted for week 19:
I am finally home, it took me only 16 hours to get here… So happy to be back with Mr and Gustav. This trip made me realize that although I really love travelling, I am not the kind that handles long journeys well… I prefer to travel within Europe.
I am so tired now, as I have been awake for more than 24 hours. I will get the detailed stories of two last of my trip published tomorrow together with photos of Great Wall… But for now – sleep!
This whole trip seems to rotate around culture and food more than it does around business, despite the fact that were are actually in meetings from 9:00 in the morning until 19:00 in the afternoon. Today it was all about Japan: food, culture and working ethics…
I have to admit, my perception of Japan was somewhat prejudice before I actually got to know the people and heard about their way of thinking and working. In my little bubble Japan was the Mecca of everything hi-tech, the most civilized country in the world, open for everything new, and driving progress. How wrong could I be? Obviously, very wrong!!

Today was soooo much better!
It all started with the breakfast… The Kerry Kitchen, where we are served the breakfast, is built up as a set of stations with different Asian cuisines. I think there were four stations, and of all the dishes it was only sushi I could recognize. I still tried some, which appeared to be noodles and fish, and something I thought was a dumpling, but later my Chinese colleague explained me that it is actually bread.
Tomorrow, my Japanese colleague, who came for this meeting offered to meet up with me for breakfast so that I can get the explanation about what everything really is.
I had wonderful meeting with my sweet colleagues from China and Japan. They are both such darlings. It really makes me smile when I think of them. || Read more
At 11 o’clock on Saturday a taxi drove me to the airport with destination Beijing. To get there I had to fly via Helsinki Vantaa. I was warned about the long flight, and I was recommended the Finnair, due to “better sits and entertaining system”, but, apparently, I still was not ready.
The flight to Helsinki went fine. It was just over an hour and I barely even noticed it. It took me about 15 minutes to get to the new gate and get through the border control. Despite having to wait for almost two hours, it was still ok. I had a good book (finally bought Hunger games) and I had a sparrow to keep me company. I have no clue how he got in, but he seemed completely un-afraid of people.
The flight to Beijing was another story. Let’s start with the Finnish guy on my right kicking of his smelly shoes and putting his stinking fit up high on the wall in front of us (I was on the first row in the middle), so he could stretch while sleeping. Could anyone else sleep? Or breathe for that matter? NO!! But did he care? Not a bit. He snored, he stank, and he kicked. Eight hours straight. Well, with small interruptions for food, which he stuffed into his mouth in the matter of seconds. The guy on my right, although much better in the smell department, could not find the TV channel to settle on, so he changed the channels every 5 seconds. Have you tried to sleep to that? I am surprised I only got migraine and not epileptic attack. || Read more
So it is time to start packing for China. I’ve been warned that Facebook and Twitter are blocked off there as well as some of the Google search strings. I’ve set up the automatic update functions to my blog, that will forward the links to the posts to Facebook and Twitter and will post here instead. I just hope that they will not block my blog as well.
Anyhow, the trip will be long. I am leaving home at 11 am tomorrow and will not be in Beijing until 8 am on Sunday.
This is my first ever trip to Asia and I am nervous.
TO BE CONTINUED….
Hard to believe, but spring is actually started to arrive at Göteborg. There are flowers everywhere and by the day there are more leaves on the trees and bushes.
Mr and I went for a walk this weekend and of course I took a camera with me. Here are some of the things we enjoyed…
